Abstract

The present investigation was carried to assess the effect of different herbal blends on herbal instant beverages based on sapota fruits. The product was prepared by using different sapota based blends (10, 15 and 20%) consist of different fruits, herbs and spices with maintaining TSS (12 and 15 0Brix) and acidity (0.30, 0.40 and 0.50 %). Then product was stored under ambient condition (22 - 35oC) for 6 months and evaluated for sensory properties at an interval of 2 months. The storage study revealed a pattern of gradual decrease in taste, flavour, texture (body), overall acceptability whereas, increasing trend was recorded in colour and appearance during entire periods of storage. Amongst various treatments, the most acceptable and stable herbal beverages based on sapota fruit can be prepared by using blend (15%), TSS (15%) with acidity (0.30%) gave excellent score for taste, flavour, colour, appearance and overall acceptability and found most stable during storage of 6 months.This herbal instant beverage is considered as protective food as it is rich in antioxidant, nutrients and has therapeutic values for health remedy. Therefore, this herbal sapota based beverage technology could be promoted as health food and exploited for agro food processing industry at cottage as well as at industrial scale with advantage.

Abstract

The present investigation was undertaken with the main objective of utilization of vermiwash spray on growth and yield of radish cv. LOCAL VARIETY. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Completely Block Design with five treatments and four replications. The experiment consists of five treatments involving application of water and vermiwash in the proportion of 1:1, 1:2, 1:3 and 1:4 and control were imposed and the foliar application was made by using knapsack sprayer in the evening hours twice at 15 and 30 days after sowing seeds. The data clearly revealed that the yield obtained with treatment T₄ (100 % RDF as fertigation and vermiwash foliar twice times spray 1:4 at 15 and 30 days after sowing seeds) was significantly higher than all other treatments in growth and yield attributes such as ischolar_main diameter (5.53 cm), length (25.90 cm), weight (90.90 g), yield/plot (18.18 kg), yield/ha (60.59 t/ha) and marketable yield (45.45 t/ha) of radish cv. LOCAL VARIETY. Thus, it can be concluded that foliar spray of vermiwash (1:4) effective than control.

Abstract

Studies relating to AIDS are unanimous that the disease leads to reduced life expectancy. Higher female and child mortality rates are a distinct possibility. Medicines that have been developed to treat people affected with AIDS are very expensive and hence not suitable for low-income countries. Vaccines cannot be invented quickly because some people must get affected and then recover 10 facilitate the manufacture of the vaccine. Here there is no patient who has recovered. The World Bank initiative in developing a remedial vaccine is commendable in the sense that it has already announced a pre-committed price and liberal grant to the pharmaceutical company that can come up with the vaccine first.

Abstract

Fruits retained on each tree under study were counted prior to first application of spray. Fruit dropped were counted at weekly interval. Minimum pre-harvest fruit drop (11.07 %) was found with the application of T5 (2, 4-D 10 ppm + Carbendazim 0.1 %). Retention per cent of fruits was found to be maximum (88.93 %) was observed with T5 (2,4-D 10 ppm + Carbendazim 0.1%). Fruit yield in respect of number of fruits per tree and weight of fruits per tree were found significantly maximum (1058.88 fruits/tree and 159.15 kg respectively) with the spray of T5 (2, 4-D 10 ppm + Carbendazim 0.1%) which was superior to all other treatments.
